In my photography, I try to avoid boring. That usually means I look for people and activity. In the absence of those, I look for strong graphic design and amusing juxtapositions, like a shot of the Eiffel Tower seen in the distance over the shoulders of a Max Ernst sculpture in the Centre Pompidou. My financial journalism occasionally takes me to major cities where I enjoy street photography. At home in Door County, Wisconsin -- 250 miles north of Chicago -- I am fortunate to have three very active dogs whose energy and frequent goofiness make for entertaining photographs.
